EFFECTUAL DISCIPLESHIP.

Believers Are To Be Lights In The World.

With every aspect of our lives as believers, we must at all times, and in every situation, no matter what circumstances we may face we have to set Jesus before our eyes as our example of how to live in this world, so as to be being pleasing to the Father in the exercising of His Will.

In Luke 2:29-32.

Simeon who was a devout servant of the Lord declared:“Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, According to Your word; For my eyes have seen Your salvation Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”

 In John 3:19-20. Jesus said.

And this is the condemnation that light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither comes to light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

We see that Light exposes darkness. Jesus did not come to judge or condemn, but to bring salvation. But to receive Father’s offer of salvation, there must be the surrender on the part of men to give up the things of darkness; there is a cost involved. Still, here Jesus reveals that some will not surrender.

John 12:44-47.

Then Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me. And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me.  I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.

In Matthew 5:14-16 Jesus said.

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

We have the command of Jesus over our lives, as He walked, so too must those who profess to follow Him.

This is not an option; in reality, we have not been given a choice. What the Father has placed in our lives in Jesus Christ, He expects this life to flow through us in every situation we may encounter.

Good works are expected to be in our lives, not so as to attain to salvation, but as fruits, or witnesses through which our Heavenly Father is seen to be glorified in the eyes of the people.

In John 8:12. Then Jesus spoke again unto them, saying, “I am the light of the world: he that follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” .

And again in John 12:35-36.

Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you.  Walk while you have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walks in darkness knows not whither he goes. While you have light, believe in the light, that you may be the children of light.   As we are in Christ Jesus, the light of life that is in Jesus and of Jesus guides our walk.
