Disciples And Denial Of Self.

Disciples Are Never Above Jesus.

The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his Lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his Master and the servant as his Lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of His household? Matthew 10 : 24-25

The Personal Responsibility Of The Disciple.

Then said Jesus unto His disciples, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for My sake shall find it. For how shall a man profit if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man shall come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He shall reward every man according to his works. Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, who shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom. Matthew 16: 24-28.

And when Jesus had called the people unto Him with His disciples also, He said unto them, Whosoever will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. Read More... “Disciples And Denial Of Self.”

Disciples And The World.

Jesus Was Hated

If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.  If you were of the world, the world would love his own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept My saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for My name’s sake, because they know not Him that sent Me.If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.  He that hates Me hates My Father also. John 15:18-23.

The World Shall Hate Disciples.

And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. And you shall be hated of all men for My name’s sake: but he that endures to the end shall be saved. Read More... “Disciples And The World.”

Counting The Cost Of Discipleship.

The Importance of Counting the Cost.

Now great multitudes went with Jesus. And He turned and said to them, “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.

For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it— lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’? Luke 14:25-28.

A King Counts the Cost.

Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for conditions of peace. So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple. Read More... “Counting The Cost Of Discipleship.”

Blessed Of The Father.

Those Who Are Blessed.

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, persecute you, and falsely say all evil against you, for My sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Matthew 5:3-12.

Whosoever Shall Not Be Offended In Me.

And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding His twelve disciples, Jesus departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.  When John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,  And said unto Jesus, Are You  He that should come, or do we look for another?   Read More... “Blessed Of The Father.”
