Disciples And Servanthood

Disciples Must Learn From Jesus.

John 13:12-15.

So after Jesus had washed their feet, and had taken His garments, and was set down again, He said unto them, Know you what I have done to you?  You call Me Master and Lord: and you say well; for so I am.  If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another’s feet.  For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.

Disciples Are Never Above Jesus.

Matthew 10:24-25.

The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.  It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

John 13:16-17.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.  If you know these things, happy are you if you do them.

Disciples Are Called To Serve Others.

Matthew 20:25-28.

But Jesus called them unto him, and said, You know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.  Read More... “Disciples And Servanthood”

Disciples And Effectual Prayer Part 1

Prayer And The Name Of Jesus.

John 14:12-14.

Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes on Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto My Father.  And whatsoever you shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If you shall ask anything in My name, I will do it.

John 16: 23-24.

And in that day you shall ask Me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever you shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it you.  Hitherto have you asked nothing in My name: ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be full.

Prayer And Jesus’s Word.

John 15:5-8.

I am the Vine, you are the branches: He that abides in Me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without Me you can do nothing.  If a man abide not in Me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.  If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you.  Read More... “Disciples And Effectual Prayer Part 1”

Disciples And Persecution

Never Think You’re Better Than Jesus.

John 15:18-21.

If the world hate you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.  If you were of the world, the world would love his own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept My saying, they will keep yours also.  But all these things will they do unto you for My name’s sake, because they know not Him that sent Me.

Persecution Comes Because Of Being Righteous.

Matthew 5:10-12.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets before you.

Persecution Because Of The Word.

Matthew 13:20-21.

But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that hears the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; Yet has he not root in himself, but endures for a while: for when tribulation or persecution arise because of the word, by and by he is offended. Disciples And Mercy

Our Father Is Merciful.

Luke 6:33-36.

And if you do good to them which do good to you, what thanks do you have? For sinners also do even the same.  And if you lend to them of whom you hope to receive, what thanks do you have? For sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.  But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and you shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.  Be you therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

Jesus Must Be Our Benchmark.

Luke 10:30-37.

A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise, a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. Read More... “Disciples And Mercy”
