Disciples And Meekness

Matthew 5:5

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Matthew 11:25-30.

At that time, Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father.

Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”

Matthew 10:16

Behold, I send you forth as sheep among wolves: be you therefore wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

Matthew 21:1-5.

And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway you shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. Disciples And Humility

Those Who Are Humble Shall Be Great In The Kingdom.

Matthew 18:1-5

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?” Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.

Matthew 5:3

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 23:9-12.

Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ. But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

Humility Is Serving Others.

Matthew 20:25-28

Disciples And The World

Jesus Was Hated

John 15:18-23

If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.  If you were of the world, the world would love his own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord.

If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept My saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for My name’s sake, because they know not Him that sent Me.If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.  He that hates Me hates My Father also. .

The World Shall Hate Disciples.

Matthew 10:21-22.

And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. And you shall be hated of all men for My name’s sake: but he that endures to the end shall be saved. Read More... “Disciples And The World”

Counting The Cost Of Discipleship

The Importance of Counting the Cost.

Luke 14:25-28.

Now great multitudes went with Jesus. And He turned and said to them, “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.

For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it— lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’?

A King Counts the Cost.

Luke 14:29-33.

Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for conditions of peace. So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.
