The Parable Of The Pearl Of Great Price

“I wanted to tell you a story…”The Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls. When he found one pearl of great price, he went and sold all that he had and bought it. (This story is found in Matthew 13:45-46.) “Let Me explain what this story means…” This merchant wasn’t careless he was looking. Searching. He knew what he was after. And when he finally found that one priceless pearl, he didn’t hesitate. He sold everything- just to have it.

That pearl is the Kingdom. It’s more valuable than anything else you’ve ever known. Nothing you own, no comfort, no reputation, no possession can compare to its worth. I’m not asking you to give  Up everything for something uncertain- I’m showing you the one thing that’s worth giving everything for. “My parables matter because they reveal the Kingdom.”

I didn’t speak these stories on My own. In John 12:49-50, I said: “For I have not spoken of Myself; but the Father which sent Me, He gave Me a commandment, what I should say, and what I  should speak. And I know that His commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto Me, so I speak.” This story came from the Father. Because He wants  you to understand just how precious the Kingdom is-how precious I am.

And in Matthew 24:35, I said: “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away.” The value of that pearl-the value of the Kingdom-does not change. Not with time. Not with  culture. Not with age. So if you’re searching… stop here. You’ve found what matters most.
