Is Salvation for Everyone?
That is a serious question, and Jesus Himself answers: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” (John 6:47)
Jesus makes it clear that everlasting life is offered to all who believe in Him. The Gospel is to be proclaimed to every person in every nation, but its blessings are received only through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus also declared: “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
The Gospel leaves no alternative way to God. Salvation, with all its blessings, has been fully purchased through the precious blood of Jesus Christ and is freely offered to “whosoever will.” Yet it is found in Christ alone. No other name, religion, or human effort can reconcile sinful humanity to a Holy God. The Gospel is therefore both inclusive and uncompromising. Christ invites everyone, but He alone is the door through which they must enter.
Jesus declared: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28). The Clarion call of the Gospel rings loud and clear, but Jesus doesn’t compel anyone. Each person must respond to His invitation by repentance and faith.
True belief is more than acknowledging facts about Jesus. It is trusting Him completely, turning from sin, and submitting to Him as Lord. Such faith transforms the heart and is demonstrated by a life of growing obedience.
This is why Jesus warned: “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21)
These solemn words remind us that an outward profession is not enough. Saving faith produces a life that increasingly reflects obedience to Christ. The message of the Gospel is unmistakably clear. Jesus Christ died and rose again so that all may be saved, yet each person must personally respond to His call..The question is not whether Christ is willing to save; His cross has already answered that. The question is whether each individual is willing to come to Him on His terms.
