We Must Know Who We Are in Christ.
When the time had come for Jesus to be received up, He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, and He sent messengers before Him. As they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans to prepare for Him. But the Samaritans did not receive Him, because His face was set toward Jerusalem. When His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?”But Jesus turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” And they went to another village (Luke 9:51–56).
As believers in Jesus Christ, there are two things that are essential in our lives: we must know our identity in Him, and we must understand that our heavenly Father desires to express His life through us by Christ living in us through the indwelling of the Person, the presence and the effectual power of the Holy Spirit who has regenerated our re-born human spirits.
Both are essential, because the will of the Father is not only to bless us, but also to enable us, so that we can benefit the lives of others, those saved and those who are lost without Jesus Christ. `The challenge then that the Father has given to each of us is clear:
● We must know who we are.
● We must know who we are called to be.
● We must trust that the Holy Spirit can reveal and carry out the Father’s will in and through us.
Jesus has declared:“Whosoever comes to Me and hears My sayings, and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man who built a house, and dug deep, and laid the foundation on a rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded upon a rock” (Matthew 7:24–25).
The Lord has made great riches of truth available to every believer, with no exceptions; thank the Lord our lives are included in His master plan. The Father’s provision, accomplished and revealed in Jesus Christ, is freely offered to all who will believe in Him.
Word of Exhortation from the Lord.
The Lord declared, “You are not for this world; you are not for the adversary of your soul, you are Mine, and I declare over your lives that everything you will ever need, My hand has already provided it for you. All I ask is for you to come and take hold of everything that I’ve laid before you, and everything that My Son has purchased with His blood. You are a blood-bought people, and I declare unto you that you are a loved people.”
“Everything for the good and welfare of My people has been wrought and declared DONE in everything that Jesus Christ has accomplished in His life, through His death, and in both His resurrection and ascension.”“When it is said in My Word, you have to take hold of My covenant, this is laying hold of everything that you will ever have need of. Life, strength and wholeness is in this covenant of My mercy and of My grace.”
This exhortation is to exemplify the all-sufficiency of the Father’s rich provision for our lives in and through Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is Lord of all. Therefore, we are called to take hold of the Father’s will as being fully accomplished in our standing in Christ, and we are to take our position as a son of God in the covenant of the Father’s grace.
Every Believer Must Know That.
All that every believer will ever need is found in knowing and understanding that, through Jesus Christ, we have been brought into a covenant relationship with Almighty God. Through Christ and in Christ, we have been received and accepted.
The believer therefore does not live from deficiency, uncertainty, or self-sufficiency, but from the fullness of what the Father has already provided and accomplished in His Son. The call is not merely to know these truths intellectually, but to take hold of them by faith and live in the reality of what God has already declared and accomplished in Jesus Christ. These are strong words of edification. When the Father says everything, this covers our total lives in and throughout in its entirety; there is nothing that has been withheld from our lives.
The Father has declared that everything we will ever need, no matter what it may be, has already been put to our account as it were. You need to know that My hand of covering is upon your life, and I am to be who you need in your life, the total sufficiency for you. I am the Lord, and I change not; I am the Lord, and I’ve brought you out from this world, and I’ve brought you right into the very core of My being, right into the very place of My heart so that you would know that you are loved, loved for eternity, says the Lord.
The Lord makes no distinction between one soul and another, for He declared, “The one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out” (John 6:37). Every person who turns to Jesus Christ in faith is welcomed into the same grace, receives the same mercy, shares in the same life, and is given the same access to the Father’s will.
In And Through Jesus Christ.
In Jesus Christ, the fullness of the Father’s heart is made available to us without discrimination. Jesus calls all to Himself—“Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). His invitation is universal, and His promise is unfailing. Because this provision is perfect, we must understand that if we falter in our walk or fail in our obedience, it will never be due to any defect, weakness, or insufficiency in His Word.
Jesus testified that “heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away” (Matthew 24:35). The Word stands forever; it is unchanging, unshakeable, and full of power. It is never the weakness of the Word that causes a life to waver, but the heart that hears it. Our lives rise or fall based on how we respond to it: whether we receive it with humility, believe it with conviction, and yield our lives to its authority with obedience and trust.
I am reminded of an excerpt from the Exhortation which further confirms that we have our part to play in having a positive attitude to the words of the Lord, the Father declared: My Word is powerful, My Word in your life will put you under or will put you over, but it’s according to your confession. My Word in your mouth will put you over as you speak and declare My Word over any circumstance and environment that you might come across.
The Father Has Already Established The Way Through His Son.
His promise is steadfast, His truth immovable, and His Word is much more than enough for all who would put their faith and trust in Him. Therefore, if we will walk in His will, it will be because we cling to His Word. And if we refuse, stumble, or disregard it, the resulting consequence will be down to us. The provision of the Father wrought in and through Jesus Christ is perfect.
Because of this, we can receive instruction and revelation from the Father through the Son by the Person of the Holy Spirit; I am reminded of a word that the Lord spoke when He said: “When I speak unto you it is My Spirit speaking into your spirits; when My word comes forth, you may not hear it with your natural hearing, but if you will attune your spirit, made alive, regenerated, by the working of My Holy Spirit through the new birth you shall be able not only to receive My word but you shall also be able to live My word out.”
This is the perfect Will of the Father for our lives, in which we can receive the Word of the Father directly into our spirit man through the Holy Spirit. How many times has the Lord declared that His Word will never fail us and that He will never ever let us down?
