How Can A Believer Truly Glorify Almighty God?
Jesus said: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
Jesus made it unmistakably clear that the life of a believer who is committed to Him should ultimately bring glory to the Father. The light of life that is in us through being in Christ cannot remain hidden. The character of Almighty God should become increasingly visible through the way His people live.
Our words, actions, attitudes, relationships, and choices should bear witness to the faith we profess. It is not enough to speak about Almighty God; our lives should give others reason to recognise and glorify Him.
Jesus asked: “Why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” Luke 6:46. These are searching words. It is possible to call Jesus “Lord” while refusing to live under His Lordship. Therefore, our profession of faith must be tested by our obedience.
Jesus also said: “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15. The question is not simply, Do we say that we love God? The deeper question is, Is that love being demonstrated by the way we live? To glorify the Father is not to seek the praise of men or to make ourselves appear religious. It is to allow Christ to be seen in our character, conduct, and choices.
A believer cannot genuinely claim to glorify God while deliberately living contrary to the One they profess to follow:
- Our Faith must become visible.
- Our Love must become obedient.
