Jesus issued a solemn warning that every believer must understand: “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered, and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned” (John 15:6).

The seriousness of these words cannot be overlooked. This is not a suggestion, nor is it a matter of opinion it is a divine decree.

Jesus spoke with finality about what happens to the one who refuses to remain in Him. The branch does not simply lose some fruit, it loses its very life. Disconnection means death. The image is sharp and undeniable. A branch that refuses to stay connected withers quickly. Its green life fades, its strength dries up, and it becomes brittle and useless.

Such branches are not left lying on the ground; they are gathered up and cast into the fire. Jesus is not speaking of inconvenience but of eternal consequence.

This is a serious warning for every believer. A profession of faith without abiding in Christ is empty. A life that once seemed alive but has drifted from the Vine will not endure. To fail to remain is to forfeit life itself.

Jesus makes clear that apart from Him there is no safety, no security, and no future.  His words must be heard, believed, and obeyed. To dismiss them is to walk toward withering, to fire, and loss.

Therefore let every believer take heed. Do not toy with sin, do not play with compromise, do not imagine that life can be sustained without Him.

The branch that does not remain is cut off. The urgency is real, the danger is great, and the only refuge is in Christ alone.

This is of utmost importance, you need to hear this: Remain in Jesus. Hold fast to Him. Draw life from Him without ceasing. For outside of Jesus Christ, there is only withering and fire, but in Him there is fruit, life, and eternal joy. The consequence of failing to remain in Him is spiritual death and ultimate judgment.
