Living and Overcoming Through the Word of God
Every word that comes from the mouth of God has been perfectly revealed in and through the life of Jesus Christ; therefore as believers, we should never be in confusion as to the Will and purposes of the Father for our lives, as we live in this world.
Jesus has declared plainly, “For I have not spoken of Myself; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a commandment what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that His commandment is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak.” (John 12:49–50)
It is vitally important that every believer gains the revelation that Jesus Christ never made any room for personal opinion or self-directed speech. His every word was the Father’s truth expressed through human lips.
He also declared, “The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63) To live by the Word is therefore to live by Christ Himself, the Living Word made flesh; as we do, we must understand that:
● His words generate faith.
● His words purify the heart.
● His words renew the mind.
● His words strengthen our obedience.
● His words continually reveal the Father.
Every believer must gain the understanding in our lives that yesterday’s experience is never intended to sustain today’s walk. We are to gain insight into the Father’s dealings with the nation of Israel, through which we must learn and apply these examples in our lives: Israel gathered fresh manna every morning, teaching that God’s people are to seek Him continually.
● We are to make it our own personal responsibility to feed daily upon His Word.
● We have to allow His Word to search our hearts. We do this through the ministry of the Holy Spirit:
● The Word shall correct our course.
● The Word will strengthen our faith.
● The Word will keep us abiding in Christ.
The living Word restores the wanderer, strengthens the weary, humbles the proud, and establishes the obedient. As believers, we must comprehend the vast difference between what exists in the things of this world and the vastness of the Father’s sufficiency that is ours in and through Jesus Christ.
The pleasures of this world satisfy only for a season. Its success, wealth, and comforts cannot satisfy the deepest hunger of the human soul. They pass away like dust, leaving the heart still empty. But Jesus declared: “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” (John 6:35)
