Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15)

With the declaration of these words, every believer must gain a firm understanding that in our lives our love for Him must not be restricted to words only, but exhibited through a life of willing obedience.  True faith in our lives must be evidenced through our hearts in desiring to follow Him staying faithfgul to continue in all of His teachings.

Jesus also gave this solemn warning: “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21)

Every believer must understand that Jesus makes it perfectly clear that simply professing faith is not enough. There must be a life of our obedience to the Father’s will. This is very important; hearing the words of Christ without putting them into practice is a dangerous deception.

Jesus reinforced this truth when He said: “Whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.” (Matthew 7:24)

Jesus taught that obedience is far more important than many realise. It is the evidence of genuine love for Him, the mark of true discipleship, and the fruit of genuine faith.

Those who love Christ will seek to do the Father’s will, walk in His commandments, and build their lives upon the unchanging truth of His Word.
