The Commission Of The Twelve Disciples.

And when Jesus had called unto Him His twelve disciples, He gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him. Matthew 9 : 1-4.

The Power And Authority Of The Commission.

These twelve Jesus sent forth and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans do not enter. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as you go, preach, saying, The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely you have received, freely give. Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.

And into whatsoever city or town you shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till you leave. And when you come into a house, salute it. And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment than for that city. Matthew 10 : 5-15.

Message Of Repentance.

And Jesus called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits. He commanded them to take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bag, no bread, no copper in their money belts— but to wear sandals, and not to put on two tunics. Jesus said to them, “In whatever place you enter a house, stay there till you depart from that place.

And whoever will not receive you nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them. Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that city!” So they went out and preached that people should repent. And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them. Mark 6: 7-13.

Preaching And Demonstrating The Kingdom.

Then Jesus called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases. Jesus sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. And He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece.“Whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them.” So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere. Luke 9: 1-6.

This is really important, you have to know this:

  • The commission of the twelve was not merely a historical event—it is a divine pattern for all who follow Christ. Jesus still calls, still empowers, and still sends. His disciples are to walk in His authority, proclaim His message, and demonstrate His Kingdom.

  • They were not sent with persuasive words or clever strategies. They were sent with power, with truth, and with the Spirit of the living God. They carried no silver or supplies, yet they lacked nothing—because Christ was their sufficiency.

  • And what was their message? Repent. The Kingdom is here. What was their mission? Heal, cleanse, raise, and cast out. What was their posture? Freely you have received—freely give. Let us hear again the voice of the Master. He still says, “Go.” He still gives authority over all the power of the enemy. He still calls disciples to lay aside every earthly dependence and walk by faith—preaching repentance and manifesting the Kingdom.

Let every believer remember: You are not called to observe the Kingdom—you are called to proclaim it, to live it, and to demonstrate it. Go, therefore, in the name and power of Jesus Christ—and freely give what you have freely received.
