Count The Cost.
Matthew chapter 10, verse 37
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And anyone who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me.
Luke chapter 14, verses 28 through 30
For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, Saying, This man began to build and was not able to finish.
John chapter 12, verses 24 through 26
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abides alone: but if it dies, it brings forth much fruit. He that loves his life shall lose it, and he that hates his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there shall also My servant be: if any man serves Me, he will My Father honour.
Denial of Self.
Matthew chapter 10, verses 24 through 25
The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his Lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his Master and the servant as his Lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of His household?
Matthew chapter 16, verse 24
Then said Jesus unto His disciples, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Mark chapter 8, verse 34
And when Jesus had called the people unto Him with His disciples also, He said unto them, Whosoever will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
Luke chapter 9, verse 23
And Jesus said to them all, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
Luke chapter 14, verse 27
And whoever does not carry his cross and follow Me cannot be My disciple.
Losing Own Life.
Matthew chapter 10, verse 39
He that finds his life shall lose it: and he that lose his life for My sake shall find it.

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for My sake shall find it.
Mark chapter 8, verse 35
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for My sake and the Gospel’s, the same shall save it.
Luke chapter 9, verse 24
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for My sake, the same shall save it.
Face Persecution.
Matthew chapter 5, verse 10
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew chapter 13, verse 21
Yet hath he does not root in himself, but endure for a while: for when tribulation or persecution arises because of the Word, by and by, he is offended.
Matthew chapter 24, verse 9
Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and you shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
Mark chapter 10, verses 28 through 30
Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed You. And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that has left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for My sake, and the Gospel’s, But he shall receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
John chapter 15, verse 20
Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master ‘ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also.
Meek.
Matthew chapter 5, verse 5
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Matthew chapter 11, verse 29
Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls.
Matthew chapter 10, verse 16
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be you therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
Humble.
Matthew chapter 5, verse 3
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew chapter 18, verse 4
Whosoever, therefore, shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew chapter 23, verse 12
And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased, and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
Matthew chapter 20, verses 25 through 28
But Jesus called them unto him, and said, You know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister, And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Luke chapter 14, verses 8 through 11

For whosoever exalts himself shall be abased, and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.
Luke chapter 18, verse 14
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.
Merciful.
Matthew chapter 5, verse 7
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Matthew chapter 9, verse 13
But go you and learn what that means I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Matthew chapter 18, verse 33
Should not you also have had compassion on your fellow servant, even as I pitied you?

So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately, their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.

Hated By The World.
Matthew chapter 10, verse 22
And you shall be hated of all men for My name’s sake: but he that endures to the end shall be saved.
Matthew chapter 24, verse 9
Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and you shall be hated of all nations for My name’s sake.
Luke chapter 6, verse 22
Blessed are you, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of Man’s sake.
Luke chapter 21, verse 17
And you shall be hated of all men for My name’s sake.
John chapter 15, verse 18
If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love his own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. Therefore the world hates you.
John chapter 17, verse 14
I have given them Your Word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Caring For The Poor.
Matthew chapter 6, verses 2 through 3
“So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and the streets, so that men may honour them Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. “But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
Matthew chapter 19, verse 21
Jesus said unto him, If you would be perfect, go and sell that you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come and follow Me.
Mark chapter 10, verse 21
Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing you lack: go your way, sell whatsoever you have and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.
Luke chapter 4, verse 18
The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

And Jesus lifted up His eyes on His disciples, and said, Blessed, be you poor: for yours is the Kingdom of God.
