Taking Jesus at His Word

Jesus made this declaration: “If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes” (Mark 9:23). Jesus taught that all things are possible to the one who believes: this is very important, as believers we must gain the revelation that believing is more than giving mental agreement to some facts concerning Jesus;

  •  It is placing confidence in who Jesus is.
  • What He has spoken.
  • And what He can do.

Faith opens the heart to the reality of God’s power. It is not faith itself that performs the miracle; it is faith that looks beyond human limitation and confidently rests upon the One for whom nothing is impossible. Jesus also revealed the secret of abiding authority. “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you” (John 15:7).

To abide in Him is to remain united with His life, to think His thoughts, to speak His Word, and to act in His will. When a believer truly believes, circumstances no longer have the final word; Jesus does.

The power of believing is found in taking Jesus Christ at His Word and acting upon it with confidence, knowing that His authority is greater than every opposing power. The Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth remains the highest authority in time and eternity. Its power is undiminished, its reach unlimited, its truth eternal.

It waits to be spoken in faith, believed in the heart, and demonstrated in life — that the Father may be glorified, the Son magnified, and the world transformed.
